I'm writing a couple of different fantasy worlds where firearms exist (one sort of equivalent to 1830's, one more 1870s wild west). There's printing presses and other stuff too. I like the idea of more technologically advanced civilizations in fantasy, instead of more of the same quasi-medieval setting.
And I also like keolah's idea of magic advancing like technology. In one of the worlds I mentioned, the "science" of magic has been developing over hundreds of years.
